Pet Endoscopy
in Lowell, IN

As a pet owner, seeing your furry friend unwell and not knowing what is wrong with them can be extremely frustrating. A pet endoscopy is a procedure that can be used to diagnose a number of illnesses and disorders your pet might be experiencing by providing us with samples that will facilitate making a proper diagnosis. Pet endoscopy procedures eliminate the guesswork and sets us on the right track to find the appropriate treatment for your pet. The pet endoscopy services at Lowell Animal Hospital offers a non-invasive, less expensive alternative to exploratory surgery.

What is an Endoscopy?

A pet endoscopy is a nonsurgical procedure used to examine your pet’s digestive tract. When performing an endoscope, we will use a flexible tube with a light and camera attached to it to be able to see inside of your pet’s digestive tract on a color TV monitor. If there is a need to evaluate the inside of organs such as the esophagus, stomach, or colon an endoscopy will do so in a minimally invasive way.

When Is A Pet Endoscopy
Necessary?

Aside from helping diagnose any illness or issue your pet could be suffering from, a pet endoscopy can also assist in the removal of foreign objects your pet may have consumed. Since this is a non-invasive procedure, it is also ideal for obtaining biopsies of the stomach, intestines, and esophagus. Once we get the results back, a final diagnosis for your pet will be made and a treatment plan can be created.

Endoscopy.

Your pet will need to fast before their endoscopy to ensure the safety of general anesthesia usage, which will be administered for your pet’s comfort. It will also help us gain as much information as possible from the procedure. It’s recommended that the fast lasts a minimum of 12 hours, but we will discuss it with you prior.
